4. Học tiếng Anh qua mẫu câu | English Through Patterns

Ví dụ

Can everyone hear me clearly?
→ Mọi người có nghe mình rõ không ạ?

I'll + V

Ví dụ

I'll share my screen.
→ Mình sẽ chia sẻ màn hình.

  • I'll send it later.

I'll là dạng rút gọn của I will. Trong những tình huống giao tiếp, nó thường được dùng khi người nói đưa ra quyết định, lời đề nghị hoặc cam kết thực hiện một việc.

Pattern 5 — There's + noun

Cấu trúc

There's + singular noun

Ví dụ

There's some background noise.
→ Có một chút tiếng ồn xung quanh.

  • There's a problem.
  • There's an issue with the file.
  • There's someone at the door.

Pattern There is / There's rất hữu ích khi muốn thông báo rằng một người, vật hoặc vấn đề đang tồn tại hoặc xuất hiện.

Ví dụ

You're on mute.
→ Bạn đang để mic tắt.

  • You're on the right track.
  • You're doing well.
  • You're a little late.

Trong You're on mute, cụm on mute mô tả trạng thái của người đang tham gia cuộc gọi.

Pattern 7 — What did I miss?

Cấu trúc

What did I miss?

Ví dụ

What did I miss after the budget discussion?
→ Sau phần thảo luận về ngân sách thì mình đã bỏ lỡ phần nào vậy?

Đây là một pattern rất tự nhiên khi muốn hỏi về những nội dung đã diễn ra trong lúc mình không có mặt hoặc không theo dõi được.

Có thể mở rộng:

  • What did I miss?
  • What did I miss while I was away?
  • What did I miss during the meeting?

Pattern 8 — Feel free to + V

when + clause được dùng để xác định thời điểm hoặc tình huống mà một hành động xảy ra.

  • Please call me when you arrive.
  • I usually take notes when I'm in a meeting.

5. Phân tích câu theo cấu trúc S + V + O + C + A | Sentence Analysis by S + V + O + C + A Structure

Các thành phần cơ bản của câu

Ký hiệu Tên đầy đủ Chức năng
S Subject Chủ ngữ – người hoặc vật mà câu nói đến
V Verb Động từ – hành động hoặc trạng thái
O Object Tân ngữ – người hoặc vật chịu tác động của hành động
C Complement Bổ ngữ – thông tin bổ sung hoặc mô tả cho chủ ngữ / tân ngữ
A Adverbial Trạng ngữ – thông tin về thời gian, nơi chốn, cách thức, tần suất, mục đích...
Lưu ý: Không phải câu nào cũng có đủ S + V + O + C + A. Đây là một bộ công cụ để giúp chúng ta nhìn vào cấu trúc câu, không phải một công thức bắt buộc mà mọi câu tiếng Anh đều phải tuân theo.

Câu 1

Can everyone hear me clearly?

  • S: everyone
  • V: hear
  • O: me
  • A: clearly

→ S + V + O + A

clearly cho biết hành động hear diễn ra như thế nào.

Câu 2

I'll share my screen.

  • S: I
  • V: will share
  • O: my screen

→ S + V + O

Ở đây will là modal verb, còn share là động từ chính.

Câu 3

There's some background noise.

Cấu trúc:

There + be + noun

There’s + some background noise.

Câu này không phù hợp để ép vào mô hình S + V + O theo cách đơn giản. There ở đây là chủ ngữ giả trong cách phân tích ngữ pháp truyền thống, còn some background noise là thành phần cho biết điều gì đang tồn tại.

Điểm quan trọng là người học nhận ra:

There is / There are + noun

→ dùng để nói rằng có một người, vật hoặc vấn đề nào đó.

Câu 4

You're on mute.

  • S: You
  • V: are
  • C: on mute

→ S + V + C

on mute không phải là Object. Nó bổ sung thông tin về trạng thái của you, vì vậy được phân tích như một Complement.

Câu 5

Please put your questions in the chat.

  • V: put
  • O: your questions
  • A: in the chat

→ V + O + A

Đây là câu mệnh lệnh nên Subject được hiểu ngầm là you.

Câu 6

I'll send a summary after the meeting.

  • S: I
  • V: will send
  • O: a summary
  • A: after the meeting

→ S + V + O + A

after the meeting cho biết thời điểm hành động gửi bản tóm tắt sẽ diễn ra.

Pattern Building | Xây dựng câu từng bước

Chúng ta có thể nhìn cách một câu đơn giản được mở rộng thành một câu đầy đủ hơn.

Step 1

Listen.

V

Lắng nghe.

Step 2

Listen carefully.

V + A

Thêm thông tin về cách thức.

Step 3

Please listen carefully.

A + V + A

Thêm từ please để câu trở thành một lời yêu cầu lịch sự.

Step 4

Please listen carefully to the speaker.

A + V + A + A

Thêm thông tin về đối tượng mà người nghe cần tập trung vào.

Step 5

Please listen carefully to the speaker during the presentation.

Thêm thông tin về thời gian / bối cảnh.

Từ một câu rất ngắn, chúng ta có thể từng bước thêm thông tin để tạo ra một câu rõ ràng và tự nhiên hơn.

6. Thông điệp từ Nowlogy | A Message from Nowlogy

4. English Through Patterns

The sentences in this video are useful not only for online meetings. Many of the patterns can be taken beyond the meeting context and used in everyday communication.

Pattern 1 — Let's + V

Let's try that again.

Let's + base verb is commonly used to make a suggestion about doing something together.

  • Let's start.
  • Let's take a break.
  • Let's look at this again.

Pattern 2 — Can + subject + V...?

Can everyone hear me clearly?

This pattern is useful for asking about someone's ability or checking whether something is possible.

  • Can you hear me?
  • Can everyone see the screen?
  • Can you help me?

Pattern 3 — Could you + V...?

Could you repeat that, please?

Could you + verb...? is a polite and natural way to make a request.

  • Could you speak a little more slowly?
  • Could you send it again?
  • Could you explain that?

Compared with Can you...?, Could you...? often sounds slightly softer and more polite.

Pattern 4 — I'll + V

I'll share my screen.

I'll is the contracted form of I will. In everyday communication, it can be used when the speaker makes a decision, offers to do something, or commits to an action.

  • I'll send it later.
  • I'll check that.
  • I'll get back to you tomorrow.

Pattern 5 — There's + noun

There's some background noise.

There is / There's + noun is used to say that someone or something exists, is present, or is happening.

  • There's a problem.
  • There's an issue with the file.
  • There's someone at the door.

Pattern 6 — You're + adjective / phrase

You're on mute.

This pattern can be used to describe someone's state or situation.

  • You're on the right track.
  • You're doing well.
  • You're a little late.

In You're on mute, on mute describes the person's current status in an online meeting.

Pattern 7 — What did I miss?

This is a very natural way to ask about something that happened while you were away or were not able to follow what was happening.

  • What did I miss?
  • What did I miss while I was away?
  • What did I miss during the meeting?

Pattern 8 — Feel free to + V

  • Feel free to ask questions.
  • Feel free to contact me.

5. Sentence Analysis

Understanding S + V + O + C + A

The five basic sentence elements are:

Symbol Full Term Function
S Subject Who or what the sentence is about
V Verb The action or state
O Object The person or thing affected by the action
C Complement Information that completes or describes the subject or object
A Adverbial Information about time, place, manner, frequency, purpose, etc.
Important: Not every sentence contains all five elements. S + V + O + C + A is a tool for understanding sentence structure, not a formula that every English sentence must follow.

Example 1

Can everyone hear me clearly?

  • S: everyone
  • V: hear
  • O: me
  • A: clearly

→ S + V + O + A

Clearly tells us how the action of hearing is being described.

Example 2

I'll share my screen.

  • S: I
  • V: will share
  • O: my screen

→ S + V + O

Here, will is a modal verb and share is the main verb.

Example 3

There's some background noise.

Structure:

There + be + noun

There's + some background noise.

This sentence is better understood through the There is / There are structure rather than being forced into a simple S + V + O analysis.

The important pattern is:

There is / There are + noun

It is used to say that something exists or is present.

Example 4

You're on mute.

  • S: You
  • V: are
  • C: on mute

→ S + V + C

On mute is a Complement because it describes the current state of you rather than receiving the action of the verb.

Example 5

Please put your questions in the chat.

  • V: put
  • O: your questions
  • A: in the chat

→ V + O + A

This is an imperative sentence, so the subject you is understood rather than explicitly stated.

Example 6

I'll send a summary after the meeting.

  • S: I
  • V: will send
  • O: a summary
  • A: after the meeting

→ S + V + O + A

After the meeting tells us when the action will take place.

Pattern Building | Building a Sentence Step by Step

A sentence can gradually become more detailed by adding information.

Step 1

Listen.

V

Step 2

Listen carefully.

V + A

Carefully adds information about how the action is performed.

Step 3

Please listen carefully.

A + V + A

Please turns the sentence into a polite request.

Step 4

Please listen carefully to the speaker.

Additional information tells us who the listener should focus on.

Step 5

Please listen carefully to the speaker during the presentation.

The phrase during the presentation adds information about the context or time.

A short sentence can therefore be developed step by step into a clearer and more detailed sentence.

6. A Message from Nowlogy

Language becomes more useful when we can take it beyond textbooks and use it in real situations.

An online meeting may be only a small part of everyday work, but it contains many natural expressions: how to begin an interaction, ask someone to repeat something, report a problem, make a suggestion, or invite others to participate.

Through these simple sentence patterns, Nowlogy hopes that learners will not only remember a collection of expressions for online meetings, but also recognise that one pattern can be used in many different situations.

When we understand the structure behind a sentence, we no longer have to learn every sentence as a separate piece of knowledge. We can change the vocabulary, change the context, and create new sentences of our own.

Language becomes more meaningful when we can take it beyond the lesson and use it in real life.
